Book Review By Noor Ahmed Pirkani

Author: Mr Sultan Ahmed Shahwani

The book of Mr. Sultan Ahmed Shahwani titled as " The missing impression of Jhalawan " is a masterpiece of research work. Research is a difficult task and researchers have to face hardships to collect correct information, genuine data, search the proper reference books, get the relevant material, meet the relevant persons who are well acquainted with the subject and then compile and connect the links and infer the required results. Every research work is actually based on earlier research works or completion of incomplete tasks. The source of knowledge, information and archaeological materials have much importance for a researchers.

Sultan Ahmed Shahwani has unearthed and disclosed new realities about archeology, art, sculpture and history of Jhalawan. I was really impressed to read  the efforts of the writer regarding his visits and stays in the area of ' Dhadoor in impassible terrain of  kerkh'. Mr Shahwani was determined to complete the adventurous task and the way he explained  the prehistoric facts inferred from ruins of “Dhadoor” will definitely pave the way for future researchs.

The language of the book is simpler and comprehensive and a common reader can understand the objective of research.

Another quality of the book is that there is continuity of thought, reader may not loose intrest at any stage. The history, civilization  archeology, terrains, the geographical beauties are kept in proper order.

The arceological deposits connect the area with civilizations of Meher Garrah and Moen Jo Darro.

Mr Sultan Shahwani has also coined a new term of Antique Mauphia, who are destroying and erasing the history and he has appealed the Government to take action against the said Mauphias.

However I have  observations  that the writer has not included the chapter of sources of information and bibliography , which was otherwise mandatory according to research methodology in order to assist the researchers in future and the names of mountains and geographical areas are hard to be pronounced. He had to include a list of such names with Urdu pronunciation to make it further easier for the readers .
